These digital issues are not electronic replicas of the print magazine. The frustrations associated with reading PDF flip-books have shown that some things just don’t translate well from print to digital. There are some things print can do easily, like a two-page feature spread, that online formats don’t accommodate.
On the other hand, there are things you can do digitally, like play a music video while scrolling through an article, or follow a link to more information, or view embedded pages from a primary source, that you can’t do in print.
Each medium has its own benefits and drawbacks.
The best way to appreciate these digital issues is to think of them as a digital reflow of the information contained in the magazine.
